Arming the Security System
You may turn the security system on from either a Touchscreen or Keypad and you have a choice of three different arming modes.
From the Touchscreen:
At the DIRECTORY press SECURITY. This will take you to the SECURITY screen and present you with three options:
- WHOLE SYSTEM which will arm all perimeter doors, windows and interior sensors.
- PERIMETER ONLY which will arm perimeter doors and windows only.
- INSTANT PERIMETER which will arm perimeter doors and windows only and eliminate the delay you normally have to leave the home and the delay you have when you return home.
Press the desired button. If all doors and windows are closed the system will arm. If you have armed the system in either of the first two modes you need to leave the home within the prescribed exit delay time.
If after pressing the desired arming button, you are presented with a keypad display, you need to enter a valid 4-digit passcode to complete the arming sequence.
If there are doors and/or windows open when you attempt to arm the system, you will receive a message indicating this. You are encouraged to go and close the open doors and/or windows and return to the Touchscreen to attempt to arm again. However, you can choose to force arm the system, which will arm only those sensors that are securely closed at the time of arming. To force arm the system, simply press the FORCE ARM button.
From a Keypad:
Press the ARM button followed by pressing either 1, 2 or 3 which represent the three arming modes. If all doors and windows are closed the system will arm. If the system requires a 4-digit passcode, the display will prompt you for it and you should enter it.
If there are doors and/or windows open when you attempt to arm the system, you will see the green light on the keypad begin to flash. On the lower line of the keypad will be displayed the area with an open door or window. If an asterisk exists on the far right end of the line, then other areas are open as well and you can press the SCAN button to scan through them. You can choose to force arm the system by pressing the ARM/AUX button. If you wait too long, the keypad will revert to its normal mode and you’ll need to begin the process over again.
If you have the older keypads without the alphanumeric display, the arming process begins by pressing the # key followed by 1, 2 or 3. To force arm the system press the # followed by 4.
